Brief History of Madonna Catholic Church, Egan

Madonna Catholic Church Started as a Mass centre  of St John Catholic Church Igando in the year  2000 under the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Okechukwu Herbert Ezeji at  Mr/ Mrs Ikedi’s House. we moved to a permanent site on 3rd March 2002 when it became an out Station of St John Catholic Church.

Madonna Catholic Church was upgraded to a quasi Parish at the Chrism Mass of April 18th 2019 and a Priest in charge in the person of Rev. Fr. Chinedu Vincent Udoye (SMMM) was given to us on 29 October 2019 who started work in Ernest with nothing not minding the Coronavirus.

Happy to note that Madonna quasi Parish is 6 years  since it came into existence; moving from Mass centre ,Station Church to quasi Parish created out of St John Catholic Church Igando on 29 October 2019. As a quasi Parish we have six Small Christian Communities ;St Padre Pio, St Louis Mary , St James Mary , St John Paul Mary, St Anthony Mary & Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

 

 MILESTONES

 

  1. The official opening & blessing of Madonna Rectory and Conferral of Sacrament  of Confirmation by Most. Rev. Dr. A.A. Martins.DD. on 30thof July 2022.

 

Installation of Tabernacle and administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation on about 1000 candidates on 5/4/2025 in 12years abandoned Church Auditorium but now roofed.
